.....cos we've been 6 times this week :{

Trip 1 - we had four chinchillas to stay, one of which we knew was pregnant, but she gave birth to a stillborn kit so mommy went to the vet for a quick check-up to make sure there were no post-partum complications

Trip 2 - a bunny who just suddenly stopped eating after being with us for a week (I found out later that this is a regular occurance)

Trip 3 - my own piggie, Pudding, developed a strange swelling near his tear-duct (one day of eye drops, and the swelling had disappeared)

Trip 4 - one of my other piggies, Humbug, developed an abscess on her chin, which was lanced and cleaned out

Trip 5 - a boarding piggie had to go for a post-op check up (recently had his leg amputated)

Trip 6 - a real crisis this afternoon with a very sick piggie - cause completely unknown. He's been admitted for intensive care, so fingers crossed and all vibes for him.

Why does bad luck seem to come all in one mad go? We also have a bunny boarder who needs his teeth clipping....so that'll make trips 7 in the space of about 10 days!

Please no more! :... Sigh.....sometimes this job is hard!

Gosh that is a lot. I cannot help wonder though why would anybody leave their pet if they were unwell or pregnant? Hmm. Just my opinion.

Hmmmmm....you'd be surprised!

The pregnant chin's owner thought the kit wasn't due while she was staying with me, but I'm pretty sure the kit was full-term, so I think there was a mix-up with the dates there!

The recent amputee.....the boarding was arranged weeks ago, the broken leg happened about 10 days ago, and the amputation took place about 4 hours before he came to stay....:{

The very sick piggie today, I think that's a long term problem....he only weighed 600g when the vet weighed him today (at a year old), and that kind of weigt loss doesn't happen overnight.

Gosh you must see some very sad cases caring for other peoples animals. :( I am sorry your own babies have been poorly too.

Unfortunately, we occasionally do :( but we also get to meet some lovely people and get to care for some scrumptious animals

I'm thinking of getting shares............. must admit though, the husbandry is keeping the vet at bay :)

I'm a boarder most dogs we do look after little animals but it's mostly dogs and it's a hard but very rewarding job! You're doing amazing!

Hope all the animals are ok. Sending healing wheeks and vibes for trip number 6 piggie hope he's going to be ok x>> You should ask the vets for a discount after using them this much :)

there are times when you feel like you might as well camp out in the vet's parking... I hope that you get over that bout of bad luck with all piggies well again soon!

Huge hugs to you and Noel. That's a rough week.

Hugs gratefully received!

Good news about the really poorly piggie.....from the vet recommending he be PTS at 4pm yesterday, he's now apparently eating, drinking, pooping and is generally more alert and well. Yay! How fantastic is that!

I'm collecting him at 4 this afternoon......and we've got plenty of Critical Care in to make sure he continues to do well.
