OK to give ivermectin when on baytril?

I've bought some ivermectin because one of my pigs has mites. It says nt to give it to sick/convalescing animals. She's on baytril at the moment because she's under the weather. Her chest is clear but she's sneezing. Gven that the mites are **** part of her being under the weather, am I OK to administer it or should I wait a week for her to finish the baytril? (It seems a long time to leave the mites untreated).

My vet doesn;t want to treat her yet because she says pig is too young for ivermectin and xeno (she's 12 weeks old roughly) and I have to wait til Monday for them to speak to an exotics specialist before they know what to do.

My vets are more into horses and cows and I'm going to just treat her for the mites myself, assuming peeps here think it's OK to do it immmediately.

I'd really appreciate advice from those of you who know please!
 
There is a form of ivermectin, xeno50, which is used for babies and youngsters.

I have had my guinea pigs treated for mites at the vets when on antibiotics and have never read anything on here that said that you shouldn't.

I've given it to her. Let's hope that works quickly. Have diaried for 2 weeks time to redo.

Struggling to get the baytril down her. Have seen various bits of advice about how to hold and wrap etc.I'll keep trying.
 
Baytril tastes about as horrible as you can get - I got some of it on my figners once and made the mistake to lick it. I can guarantee you that my sympathy is with any piggy that fights!

Usually, I finally can get it in by holding the piggy upright against my chest with my left hand on its body and one finger between the front legs. Then I lean back, so it's virtually on the lying on back. That still gives me the right hand to try to get the syringe in sideways into the mouth.
 
Thanks. I'll give it a go tonight... SOunds a bit of a hoot and rather energetic to me! My vet told me a) it's tasteless and b) mix it in ribena.
I didn't believe a and know b is bad advice...

My girls on Septrin the vet said and I quote "It's banana favoured she'll take it no problem", I think someone didn't inform my girls of this. Apparently banana favoured is not so tasty!
 
Please could you tell me if your piggy was OK after the ivermectin and Baytril!?
