Hi ,
just wanted to share that our nearly 8 year old Oki( on the photo ) passed away this Saturday. As you might recall he had some problems with her legs ,couldnt walk anymore but was eating alright. We tried everthing from Potters to osteocare etc,but on this weekend his strength came to its end.On Friday night he stopped with eating, didnt take anything. On Saturday still the same. We fed him with syringes, but he was not really interested .We placed him between us on our sofa with towels to keep him warm, stroked him for 3 hours, talked with him and he looked peacefully and not in pain. In the evening he struggled for breath, opened his mouth a couple of times,so we called a vet to stop him suffering, however that was not neccesary as he then had died. We are so sad,as he as so special to us. We have his ashes now with us as we couldnt bear to have him buried in the ground and we don't have a private garden. We cried the whole weekend, more then when my nan died ( sorry Nan ).
Not a very happy prexmas time for us,but we are glad he died with us and wasnt alone,

Frauke

aww I am so sorry to hear about your loss
it must be very hard, I have you and your little one who is
now at rainbow bridge in my thoughts

I'm terribly sorry to hear of your loss. What a sad time :-(

Remember that you cared for this lovely piggy incredibly well. 8 years is indeed a long time. I'm having a tear myself reading this. I feel very proud of you and the lovely people on this forum that look after these beautiful creatures so well.

Farewell lovely Oki x

thanks ,

thats absolutely right. You have so many memories with the little creatures..I bought him in Holland ,then I moved to Germany and then to England..well travelled. I think only people who own pets can feel sympathy with this kind of loss, some colleagues just went tja it's just a guinea pig..which really upsets me. I took a day off on Monday ,so did my boyfriend,as we couldnt face work at all. If possible would have stayed off longer, but as a contractor I'm not being paid when i don't show up.So at least I have internet access here and can post here.We hope to have a new friend for our other cavy,as he feels a bit lonely now,but we found a cute one on a rehoming page, which we will look at this afternoon,so fingers crossed..

I am so sorry you lost Oki. I know exactly how you are feeling as I lost my special old boy last month.

My thoughts are with you x

Rest in peace Oki, another star watching over us...

sorr to hear about your loss, too. One month is not long ago at all and I think the grief will last so long, but they will stay forever in our hearts.

Take care,

Frauke

oh i am so sorry to hear about Oki - he lived to a ripe old age though, he lived it to the full.
RIP little one

sending you hugs x

Sorry to hear about Oki. I'm lucky my boss is an animal lover, so she's understanding in that respect. My first every pig died aged over 8 1/2! We thought she was a Highlander! (= immortal)
All my thoughts are with you. My baby Rene, my darling little sweet pig died on 3 Nov and like you I found solace in the fact that we were with him till the end and felt that he wanted to be with us too. Also, in his last days, his lifetime friend Bertie was so nice to him and cuddled up to him and never tried to boot him out of his house like he usually would!
RIP Oki, have fun at the Bridge! x>>

Oki

So sorry to hear the news about Oki, he looked a real cutie. You gave him the best you could and you must of had some wonderful times together, all eight years of it, he couldn't of asked for a better family. It is just such a shame it comes to an end, it leaves you with a heavy heart. Run free Oki, be happy on the other side of the bridge little fella. Take care. Sharon.8...

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Some people just don't realise that having a pet is just like having a child and loosing that is devastating. You give a piece of your heart to them and when they go your heart breaks for them. We are thinking of you. x
