When do guinea pigs start to age? I have had mine a little less than three years and I was wondering when I would need to start to get flystrike spray and do other things which old guinea pigs neeed.

Thankyou. :o

I've never had Guinea pigs, I'm not knowledgeable with them, but at 3ish years old, i doubt they'd start to age, they usually live 6-8 years, but people have had them til they are 10 years old!
Not a very good answer, but hey :)

Flystrike can affect guinea pigs of all ages, so particularly during the summer housekeeping needs to be tip top. I personally wouldnt class a guinea pig as 'old' until around age 5 ish. Not sure if there is an official age. xx

Its not really the age that matters. Some piggies remain very healthy until they are very elderly. Others are more prone to health problems from an early age. This may be due to genes, or environment (past or present).

keep an eye out for any changes in your piggies, regularly check out the excellent basic food / health / housing / etc info in the forum, and make sure you have a good vet.
