Senior Guinea Pig
My 6 year old Rupert isn't enjoying this heat much (as I'm sure not many of us are!). He's an indoor piggy with his lady Jessie.
I'm doing everything I can in terms of keeping my flat cool (he's in my living room, no windows or curtains open until late at night, cardboard taped over windows, a couple of ice filled Tupperware tubs or bottles in opposite side of cage and a damp towel over the top, a fan at full blast with tubs of ice in front to blow cool air around). Instead of a big plate of veg am and pm he's having it throughout the day for nice cold 'lollies'.
But I'm struggling to keep the heat below 26/27 degrees and I'm worrying about him when out in the evening as can imagine pretty warm on my carpet!
I've got a chinchilla and obv don't cope well with the heat at all so he's not been out of his cage for a few days now as best to restrict them as can get really unwell.
I'm just wondering if thatd be considered best for Rup (or Poopy as he answers to!) as he's older and hasn't been liking it much. He'd still get out of his cage and come on sofa/bed for a bit of freedom (can't do that with a chin!) but I'm worried chasing his lady around on the floor could be quite bad for him.
Sorry bit long, thanks so much for any advice
