old guinea lost weight

hi everyone,
my guinea pig pepper seems to have lost a little bit of weight over the past few days or so. she’s squeaking a lot, popcorning and eating lots as well as drinking. she is 4 1/2. she has lost quite a bit of weight which worries me. i don’t weigh them so idk specifically

Take her for a full over health check at a guine apig knowledgeable vets, see if they can find something wrong. Could be anything.. Hope she's ok

Please have her vet checked, as you should with any guinea pig at any age that is losing weight rather quickly or losing a noticeable amount slowly.

It would be helpful for yourself and your vet if you you please started to weigh her weekly on your kitchen scales and daily if you have concerns about her health. There are a number of issues that do not necessarily impact on general behaviour and eating that can cause weight loss.
We can't tell you what is going on without a hands-on examination and rather scant information to go on.

i will start to weigh them- i’ve noticed she still has quite a bit of weight around her stomach and is very round whilst bonier around her neck area. i read the weight guidelines and can just feel her ribs but not specifically. she’s very alert and very active, drinking normally, and still waking me up at 4am for food!

I would recommend to have her checked for ovarian cysts. The large fluid filled hormonal ones can cause big bellies and weight loss without any other obvious symptoms. These large cysts are not at all uncommon in older sows.
I've had several 5 years old spayed for them and a 4 year old just this Wednesday but there are other less invasive treatments available; see the guide link.
Large cysts can also cause gassing problems which can add to a big belly/bony body look you are describing.
