I recently got a new guinea pig named Charlotte, who is about 2-3 months old. My other piggie, Nibbles, is 2 and a half years old. We introduced them twice and the normal dominance tests happened, like the chin-raising and sniffing each other’s bums. We put them in the cage together (I have a midwest cage) with 3 hideys. The problem is that Nibbles keeps chasing Charlotte, and not in the way they were following each other during introductions. Nibbles gets very close to Charlotte and chases her around. Charlotte seems scared to come out of her house now, but Nibbles follows her it, nips her a bit and they both make “leave me alone” noises, like high pitched squeaks. I’m scared to leave Charlotte alone in the cage with Nibbles for too long, I had to put the divider in last night. What should we do?

Hi! Make sure that there are only hideys with two exits. How long have they been like together now?

The behaviour is pretty normal for the dominance phase and should calm down a lot within a day or two.
