HI all i have a six year old sow who is quite active but resently she has lost a lot of weight i have been watching her and she is eating really well and drinking and pooing well has anyone else had this with a elderly sow or should i be worried :smitten: :smitten:

Have you any idea how long she's been loosing weight? and is she loosing any fur on her at all? has she a friend she's with or has she recently lost one?

ahhhhhhh six it's a grand age isn't it, you must be doing everything right for her :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

i have been told as they get older they lose weight, maybe it is a teeth problem, perhaps take the grand lady to the vet for a check up, even if it is just to put your mind at rest. what is the lady's name? hoping all goes well. hugs and cuddles to you and your fur baby. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Her name is Winjit because everytime you pick her up she sounds like you are murdering her she has done this ever since i had her at about six months old she is an abby all black with a tiny bit of white on her foot she is lovely thanks for your consern :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

I have an old girl coming up to six and she has lost a lot of weight. She lost it gradually and has now stopped, hasn't lost any for the past few months. I have had other oldies before who have all done this. I do think it is an old age thing as they all still eat well.

All my girlies that i no longer have lost weight when they got to 5/6. I think it is an age thing coz they never ate any less and they lived for a long time after they had lost it
I shouldn't worry too much but if you are conerned maybe go see a vet
