I recently went to the vets with my boar piggie, Chip, who is 2 years old. He had had a large sebaceous cyst on his side for ages which had decided to pop, so I took him straight to the vets to get it checked out. The hole that it has left is about 1.5cm wide, and the stuff inside has dried. The vet got most of the stuff out, and said that I should continue to clean the area, but I haven't been able to get any more of it out. (she did a lot of squeezing, and I can't seem to do it without him jumping in the air!). The vet said that he would always have this hole and we would just need to keep an eye on it.

I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem, and if just leaving the wound alone unless it gets smelly or just looks wrong, is OK.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

One of my sows had one of these, I just kept it clean & free of any build up :) It left a small hole, but never gave any problems at all as it never bled or anything.

ches had a sebaceous cyst which the vet said to clean with hibiscrub if it ever burst.. it never did, it just disappeared instead ?/

Hi,

Exactly the same happened to my boar. The hole in his back is even bigger than your piggy's but it has never bothered him in the slightest. I just check it daily to make sure it stays clean and dry
