Why is there sooo many old topics near the top when no one has replied to them ? ?
 
Aside from the stickied ones, some of the older posts have been bumped unwittingly by new members.

It's easy enough to check the date on the first post of a thread before posting :).
 
would it not be a good idea to delet posts that are about 6 pages back

Some posts are excellent reference for new folks so it wouldn't make sense to delete them. It might be an idea to lock them, though.
 
I would say lock the older threads just to prevent them being dragged back up.
