I have one older boar and one younger. The two were introduced awhile ago and get on well. Lately, I've been noticing hard, crusty flakes on the back of my older pig. He's constantly trying to scratch and rub them off but he can't reach them. I assume it's from the younger pig urinating on him. The first time this happened, I bathed him and clipped out the flakes, but that was only a week ago. I'm aware that you're not meant to bath them too regularly. Is there anything I can do to stop the younger boar? Or anything to help the older one?
Thanks

Hi and welcome!

How old are your boys exactly and how large is your cage?

Please have your older boar vet checked for the possibility of:
- bite wounds from the younger boar (bullying)
- a fungal skin infection, of which ringworm would be the most aggressive
- mange mites

We can only guess; your boy needs a proper hands-on examination and the appropriate treatment according to your findings.
