My mother was caring for my guinea pig for me while I was away, and she I thought my guinea pig might be sick...(and keep in mind that we are all into natural remedies and whatnot)
Well, my mother, without researching, felt it would be OK to give my guinea pig olive leaf extract. She put it all over my precious little Pigglesworth's food, and she has been acting very hyper and bouncy and active ever since. I'm a little upset with her for doing that - especially without checking for the safety of use - and I know that you have to be careful giving anything to guinea pigs that is anti-microbial/antibacterial because of the nature of their digestive system. This just happened a couple of days ago, and my piggy seems to be OK, but still very bouncy and hyper (though still friendly :) ) Pigglesworth is usually a bit calmer, but since the olive leaf extract has been VERY active and even jumping VERY high out of her pen.
Could this have harmed her in any way?
And is there anything I should do from here?
I cannot find any info specificity on this issue anywhere.

Thanks...

Sorry - I no experience with that, but I would never give a guinea pig something on spec as they have a very different metabolism to humans and can react very differently.

I hope that yours calms down again eventually. As it is in the system now, all you can do is sit it out until the olive leaf is worked out of the body, as much as it is going to be.
