God help me I have a sow purchased 4 weeks ago that i was told was five weeks.old. Posted elsewhere thought might bepregnant oneperson said bloat one said babies. I thought she was dying today but pulse is good breathing regular rate and rhythm. Pooped all overme and herself. That was four hours ago. Now is just laying.on her side kicking her front legs. Thereis no vet willing to see her IE an emergency vet. Still calling around. What do I do. She was a rescue. Very thin still not very big. She cant handle a birth at her age.

What makes u think she is pregnant . It seems a more serious thing them being pregnant she needs a vet ASAP

Where are you based?
Someone on the forum may know a vet as it sounds as if she does need to see one as soon as possible.

Hi!

This sounds like severe bloat and a life or death emergency. Please place her upright; she should not be lying on the side where breathing is a lot harder for her! See a vet as soon as you can; it is a life or death emergency when it is so extreme and coming on suddenly. It is also extremely painful.
Gently knock the belly. if it sounds hollow, she has severe bloat. Please read our bloat care guide and follow the advice. There are things you can do at home.
Bloat, GI Stasis ( No Gut Movement) And Not Eating

If she was highly pregnant, you would see baby balls growing and moving. She would not blow up from one day to the next; the bigger belly and higher weight gain only happens gradually in the last 2-3 weeks depending on the size of a litter.
A pregnancy takes around 10 weeks; sows have their first season between 4-6 weeks of age. Given your information your girl is still far too young for giving birth!

Why? Has she passed over to The Rainbow Bridge? If so I'm very sorry for your loss.

Yes. Yes. Held her all day. No vet will see guinea.pigs here. One vet that does is.only available monday and friday.

I am really concidering finding a good home for Piggly wiggly where someone has better access to care. I held her all day. Last night was ok. Popping all over. Wheeking.this morning as soon as heard me and went to get her more hay and she was falling.over. took her out held her all day from 10am to 530. It was a long hard day. Will not rescue another from that pet store. I have piggly that I got from there. Hopefully he will continue to be ok. Only thing found on him so far is undescended testicle.

I'm kind of confused with what you said in your last few posts. Is your sow still alive? Do you have multiple piggies?

Do you have more than one as you have been talking about your sow and the possibility of her being pregnant and then refer to a undescended testicle at the end of this post?

It would help if you could post some more information on what you have and also more about each piggie so people can offer clear support for you. Hope all is well

I think this person has 2 piggly wiggly and piggly . First being female second being male that was also from a pet store but only had 1 problem .

I would recommend to have that vet checked if you can get to a suitable vet.
Warning To Vet Check Irregular Boar Bits

Severe bloat can sadly strike out of the blue and kill within hours. So can strokes and heart attacks at any age. :(

This is really urgent.. I will make a long story short. I have taken three skinny pigs out of a pet store. Two sows with chewed off ears who, despite there bloody chewed ears were in a cage with older sows. . Both were underweight also with chewed up ears. The boar I got from there I never checked him over good. Got him home and he had an undecended testicle. They said he had been their for over ninty days and noone wanted them. I called the SPCA. and reported this store. I anoumasly called the store. They still have the male we did not take because couldnt take them all. Now they a female also. If I can get the spca to remove these two I can only take one. I currently have the boar from there that is still with us. The female I took a month ago crossed over yesterday. Which can I take for successful bonding with my boar. The sow or boar.

I would not bond the board with the sow unless the boar is neutered. Maybe wait until late here all health then try bond the 2 males .

My plan was to have my boar neutered and bond him with the sow when she was healthy enough and gained weight. The vet that I took them both to for medical problems doesnt seem to have much experience with guinea mlm pigs. I was told by mlm pet store rescue I lost yesterday was a sow. I checked her when there getting her. Definitely.looked sow to me. Vet said male but I believe was not correct. See attached file

It rather looks like a sow to me as well. Penis buttons are always nicely round; sow knobs can be all kinds of shapes.

Please make 100% sure by looking into the slit just where your thumb is. Sows have a fleshy arrangement just below the opening which seals unless they are in season while boars go straight down into the anal sac.
You can also gently feel the area just above the knob on the belly side. It should be nice and smooth. Boars have a little penis shaft just under the skin there.

I compared her anatomy and my boar. Could not feel penis in her and could in my boar. Pretty sure was a sow. Just asked same pet store for pics of two skinny pigs they have. I am causing.myself a ton of grief. The boar was there when rescued the little girl. His ears have been chewed but are healed. She looks ok for now. Feel like need to take them before get hurt.

Please do not keep them together unless one party is neutered/de-sexed.

If you are worried about a potential pregnancy, take the time to read up on our pretty comprehensive guide collection, which has been specifically written for inexperienced forum members dealing with an unplanned pregnancy.
Pregnancy & Baby Care Guide's
Neutered / De-sexed Boars And Neutering Operations: Myths And Facts

Here is our new owners guide collection as well as our skinny guide (which can do with a bit of an overhaul) but you can always ask for care tips from other skinny pig owning forum members as skinnies have a faster than normal metabolism, which also keeps them warm despite not having any hair, but they will need extra skin care.
You will hopefully find our guides very helpful as we are addressing all the areas that new owners have the most worries and questions about - and some very useful other guides as well that can save your trouble down the line.

I am ever so sorry for the loss of your sow :( That pet store sounds awful :( Please do not bond the boar with the sow unless he is neutered. If you are having him neutered, you need to wait 6 weeks before he is safe to go with your sow.

An unneutered boar and sow will mate therefore your sow will fall pregnant. Neutered boars can still pregnate a sow until he is 6 weeks post op.
