Hi,

was out in the garden today and I was putting my herd in a run to give them some grass, so I carried Chibi (chubby gal) and another in my arms to carry them to the run... then In my arms Chibi was having a seizure :0 I put the other in the run and just laid Chibi on the ground and watched her as I had never seen this before.

I panicked, (only till I saw one on Youtube I realised what she was having) it lasted of all about 10seconds and straight afterwards she shook a head a few times then she carried on as if nothing happened.

I was browsing the web on what causes it.. and she tilted her head to one side, and curled her body. oh it was scary :(

I'm confused what to do.. as the majority of websites say that it varies from genetics to diet.. well Ive had her for about 1 1/2 years (and when I got her she was about 1yr old) and her and her other cage mates have a good varied diet of veg and a little fruit and LOADS of hay and grass and their main dried food is pellets and a meusli mixed together..

The lady I got Chibi from was a ex breeder of rex's and wanted to get rid of all her piggies (for free) so I took 2.. (well sadly the other one past away winter time as she was getting quite old) so I don't know what her breeding was like..
Ive never come across this before, and like I said now she's fine, eating, pooing, walking, sleeping fine.. I will be phoning the vet tomorrow to book a appointment, just curious to know if anyone has come across this in their piggies and what they did/done?

Oh my word that must have been so scary! :...

I dont know what that can be. I know mites can cause fitting but I'm sure you would have noticed them as they have to be quite severe to cause fitting....I Think...

One of the more experienced guys on here might know what could have caused that.

Hope you can find out. Poor pigglie :(

Was it an actual seizure, as in uncontrolable shaking? Or was she tilted around with her head and body? If so an ear infection might be something to think about, but i would get your piggie to a vet in the next few days to have a througher examination and explain the symptoms.

I hope your both ok. :(

x.

it was definitely a seizure.. as the video i saw on youtube was very similar to what she had and from what people describe they are like on the net sounds exactly the same.. yes it was scary :aLJFBQ00151070111C: and thankyou everyone for your concerns..x>> she is find now, tbh you wouldnt even know she had a seizure shes still plodding around her normal way though xx>>>
