Hey all,

Was checking on my little pig this evening, and noticed he has lice....what should I do. I have printed off the page from Guinea Lynx, it says to use advantage. Is this ok? Will he be ok? 8...8...

I really have NO idea where he could of got them as Bert the other pig he shares with is not showing signs of having Lice. I will treat them both though. Am I a bag piggy mum?

Also Can i get them too?

hi i know nothing whatsoever sorry, but guinea lynx is a great source of info so i would imagine it would be correct if it says that

I'm all itchy now...:))

Ive gone itchy over board, I cant stop :( Had a look on there, going to get some stuff from P@H as that's all we have around here. Poor wee Gizmo :( I really feel terrible

it cant be helped, i thought i had ringworm today and felt terrible, but fingers crossed i think its just a rash

Depending upon how severe the infection is:

Johnsons insecticidal shampoo for small animals

But if they are really crawling....suggest Xeno450 spot on...plus bathing with the above

Feed extra Vit C (without zinc...tescos chewable are great ground up) as your piggie is below par which is why the lice are now showing .........

nooooooo not pah! go to home bargain and get some nit shampoo! :D

we don't have a home bargins.

Kind of getting annoyed with all of the Mixed advice, I just want to Help the poor little guy can some one tell me something which A) wont cost me the earth B) wont Kill the piggy and C) I can get that will work effectively on my little baby piggy approx 12 weeks old.

Sorry to rant but everyone is telling me something different. All the forums tell me different even guinea lynx tells me different. Its rather frustrating.
People say use the stuff at pets at home as it works, people who then have something against them say no don't use that. I'm going around in circles :( 8...8...

I have upped their Vit C, thank you for that, I have some drops I can put in their food.

Also not to keen on the idea of bathing him as it will scare the poop out of him. He is a very timid little baby. I don't want to stress him any more than necessary.

Hun if your getting confused then the best thing is to take him to the vets. I know people mean well but it can be extremely confusing when everyones throwing different advice at you, at least with a vet they'll be able to assess the situation properly and advise the best course of treatment.

Cat flea spray that has pyetherin's in them, then bath a week later with a pet insecticidal shampoo worked for mine. had brush their hair backwards tho and spray a couple times up their body.

I know a lot of people have views on P@H but to reassure you, we used their product to get ride of lice and it worked well. Although we could only see the lice on one of our boys we bathed both and then followed this up a week later. I hope this helps. X

Theres going to be different advice isn'there?! not every pet owner sticks to the same method of treating exactly...Just what they have used succesfully.

*Is not bothering in future*

Bye all

I use Johnson's insecticidal shampoo if guinea's got nitties, and it works a treat:) and if you don't like the idea of bathing, maybe the vet can give an alternative
