I have cut Squeaks nail too short it hasn't bled a lot but a tiny bit. it happened whe i was about to clip his claw and he moved and it went down a bot too short. it seems to have stopped bleeding and it wasnt really that bad i just feel so guilty and that he might think i was trying to hurt him when i wasn't.

he hasn't made a sound and seems to be walking on my lap just fine i applied pressure with some tissue right away and it seems like it was just a few dots of blood. Have i dont the right thing or am i a bad person. I can't do herbie's claws as he has very dark claws. I have done pip#s claws and he moved more than squeak did.

Please someone tell me if he will be ok he is not bleeding now but should i stay up all night with him and keep an eye on him he seems ok and perfectly happy to sit on my lap while i am typing this but i want to make sure he is ok.

how do i do this?

Sarah (A VERY upset lady)

Hey

First of all, calm down ;) Don't worry ;) It will have hurt a little but he will be fine aslong as it has stopped bleeding now which it has. Give him an extra cuddle and a few extra veggies for being a brave boy anyway hehe :smitten: He will be fine :)

Awww! You are NOT a bad person at all, but perhaps you should take him to the vets next time. I will be getting my vet to cut my pigs black nails.
Just keep an eye on him and make sure it doesn't bleed too much. It should be ok O0

oh thank you Jane! i'm sitting here worrying about him yes it has stopped bleeding other half reckons another millimetre more and it would have bleed a lot more he seems fine rumbled at me when i tried to stoke him while he is in his blanky which he usually does. I shall now go and feed him lots of vegs for been a very brave boy. Scared me half to death though.

Will I be ok to do him again in a few weeks or should i let someone else try. Pip was ok squirmed a lot but with mummy *me* talking to him he stayed still long enough to be done.

Hi Sophie,

I could never hurt any animal I love all 3 of my boys (will have to get some more photos on here of them soon)

I will be keeping an eye on him and he seems to be looking for food so i shall now go and feed them xxxxx

Hehe I'm sure he'll forgive you and will have forgot about it soon bless him :smitten:

Maybe next time you could feed him some veggies, or get your other half to hold him still whilst you clip? Either way, accidents happen so don't let this put you off cutting them :)

:smitten:

and btw, If they still need cutting, I would book him in at the vets, so they can show you how to cut black nails.
My vet only charges about £2 to cut nails :)

Thank you all,

I will try once more but will get the vet to show me how to cut claws and then take a photo so I can show my other half and then either me or him can cut them while one of us holds the guinea pig.

All 3 are now stuffing their faces with lots of lovely veg and I am off now to try and relax as I get very stressed quiet easily.

I done this the other day too ::)
as long as no infection has set in they should be fine O0

i was always told when cutting nails you shouldnt cut further down than the red/pink line. dont worry hun, we all make mistakes,

Oh of course you're not a bad person it could happen to anyone!
it is hard, and everyone makes mistakes, i did this with bertie a while back because he wouldn't stop wriggling! ::) He was fine after a hug and a treat and some good old tlc! :smitten: :smitten:
As long as it's stopped bleeding and you check over the next couple of days that it's not infected or anything i'm sure he'll be fine!
*MASSIVE CALMING HUGS*

that reminds me, my two need their claws done, like lil needles OUCH!

Just to let everyone know that Squeak is fine he has been eating his food ok and will be giving big hugs later on when I get home. He will also be fed loads of veggies which Pip will love as he is always the first one to the food lol.

Thank you all so much for all your advice and help.

I hope you all have A Happy New Year and a great 2008.

Love Sarah, Herbie, Pip & Squeak
