I noticed a couple of days ago that Spice seems to have a lump on her left side. It doesn't seem to bother her, she doesnt mind me touching it and to be honest I wasn't sure if I was imagining it, I can't really feel anything, it just looks like a big bulge. Then this morning she wouldn't eat her veggies and she has lost 45g since last week (though last week she was quite a bit up on the week before so I don't know how significant thatqz is.) Anyway after losing Biscuit so suddenly last December I'm realy panicking. I phoned the vet as soon as the opened and they can fit her in this morning, on my way now.

All the best with your lump. Of course these things tend to blow up on a ban holiday... :(

Well, I feel really stupid. Spice is fine. The vet checked her over thoroughly and there's nothing wrong with her at all. I've no idea why she wasn't eating this morning and why she's lost a bit of weight - the vet said see how she goes for the next couple of days - but she had some lettuce and cucumber when I got her home and I think she's been eating hay. I think she just wanted to frighten me :(. As for the lump - again I feel a complete idiot. the vet couldn't feel anything and what I thought was a lump seems to have gone... Naturally I'm relieved and delighted that Spice is ok but oh dear I do feel an idiot. I think I just got myself into a complete panic, thinking about what happened to Biscuit back in December - she passed away so suddenly and I didn't realise how ill she was. I was panicking that the same thing was going to happen with Spice.

Glad to hear Spice got a good check over by the vet and nothing untoward found. Always better to be cautious - you know your piggies best.

HUGS

Glad that it was nothing untoward. Better safe than sorry - and better nothing found than something serious. The jitters after a loss are always there; only time can cure them.

I would recommend that you continue monitoring her weight first thing in the morning for best da to day comparison (the weight swing around ca. 30-40g over the course of a day) to make sure that it is stable.

It’s never a wasted visit getting a piggy checked over by the vet. I’m glad it’s nothing to worry about. I think I’d just monitor her weight to reassure you over the coming weeks.

Always better to aire on the side of caution so please don't feel stupid, especially after what you went through with your other piggie.

I'm so glad to hear Spice is okay, can now enjoy the rest of your BH!
