Hello,

I noticed today that my three year old female guinea pig seems to have lost one of her bottom front teeth. She doesn't seem in any distress and hasn't shown a change in her eating behaviour. Does anyone have advice on how common this is and whether she needs to see a vet? I haven't noticed this happening before.

Thanks in advance!

If there's no change in her behaviour or eating and no signs of bleeding or swelling then I doubt there is much to be done, but I am a newbie! Perhaps ring the vet and ask the question?

If the tooth stump is firm, then you need not worry. Her tooth will regrow in a few days and re-sharpen again once it come up against the other incisors. If the tooth is sitting loose/wobbles, then I would see a vet.

Thank you both for your advice. She wasn't very happy about me trying to look at the stump, so I couldn't tell if it was firm or not. I'm thinking of keeping an eye on her and if it hasn't regrown in a few days then take her to the vet?
