At the minute, I have a small plastic cat carrier that I use to transport my piggies from here to Nottingham and to the vets etc. It was perfect for 2 piggies but now I have 4, the carrier is too small, especially now that Erin has grown and Ena is growing.

When they are in the carrier, they all seem to squash up together and get pretty dirty (on the trip to Nottingham).

My question is, should I buy a large cat / dog carrier for the 4 of them to go in or would I be best to buy a second small cat carrier like the one I have now and let them travel in 2 pairs?

I already have a large carrier that our cat travels in that would easily hold 4 pigs but I am a little concerned that they will just squash in to the corner and waste the space. On the other hand, is it cruel to split them up for the 2 hour journey?

I have a very big cat carrier, and if it was only for 2 hours I think that would be ok, with nibbles and stuff in there. If you got stuck in traffic though it could be a bit squashy, particularly if the weather was hot. How about a Nero 2 on the back seat? I have transported pigs in that, and it can easily accommodate food, water etc. xx

I'd personally go with two carriers - 2 pigs in each carrier. That way you can compensate for longer journeys (they won't be cramped for a long time), colder weather (room to put in blankets) and warmer weather (all 4 won't be squashed up together and risking getting too hot).

Needless to say I have quite a few carriers for my pigs...

I have found that my piggies when travel they prefer for it to be cooler and fresher than i would have it (ie with the air con on) I travel my three in a small cat carrier, although furby can be really naughty and nip the other two when she gets bored but in a two seater there is really no room for two carriers and me and my partner.

I have a cat carrier and I made a second floor so Bo and Mette-Marit go in the bottom bunk and Martha on the top (hopefully soon with a friend...). It seemed like such a waste of headroom, piggies aren't very tall...

My carrier can be opened from the front and top.
