Knocknamuck
Junior Guinea Pig
I've not been on the forum for a long time but always turn to it in times of need. Last week I was piggy slave to the two Mops, Ethel and Gertie. I rescued them 2.5 years ago to be pigwifeys to Cuthbert, after his pal Grubb died.
Cuthbert was the pioneering Suprelorin contraceptive implant piggy (there will be some old post about this somewhere). Cuthbert lived out his last 4 months very happily with the Mops until he passed very suddenly. The Mops continued on sadly without their beloved boy, until one day, one of my 2 remaining boars, Dibble passed away, leaving Barney on his own. 8 weeks later, Barney (duly implanted) become Pighubby number 2 to the Mops, and they rejoiced. After months of harmony Barney then passed away earlier this year, leaving the Mops once again to their own devices.
Ethel Mop had a long battle with ovarian cysts, and very sadly passed away at the weekend. Gertie Mop will be heading north in 1.5 weeks to start a new life with my cousin and her herd of piggies living in luxury in hutches and a chicken coop. A lovely life awaits her, after she has firmly told all the other piggies that she is the Boss Mop and will not be messed with.
Sadly, Gertie Mop doesn't know this and currently thinks that the world has ended. She is moping, hardly eating and must be thinking that there are no other piggies in the world but her. It is really sad to see.
If anybody is still reading after this long and wittering post then I'm looking for help and suggestions. I don't really know what could be done, unless anybody close by could lend me their piggies for the next week, so that she could at least hear some neighbouring wheeks? They would be well looked after. Mad idea really but I'll try anything! All suggestions welcome - diversionary tactics, cuddly toys, anything.

That is sooo sad! I'm so sorry for all that you and your mop have been through. Won't you be so sad when all the piggies are gone? You wouldn't want to get her a friend and keep her yourself?
