Whenever I try to select a smiley on the right a silly dot and squiggle thing appears instead, how does it work?

It will turn into a smiley when you post it! On the other hand, if you by chance use one of the smiley combinations in your normal text, you can end up with an unexpected smiley in your post. mallethead
