One of my pigs died!

Pets at Home often sell pigs that seem to develop URI's (Upper Respiratory Tract infections) soon after people buy them. If that is the case for the boy you lost then you need to keep a very close eye on the other 2. Did they sell you three boys? I hope the vet checked the remaining 2 are definitely boys :)

URI symptoms may include lethargy, runny eyes or nose, losing appetite, coat fluffing up, sitting in a corner etc.:) If they show any of these symptoms they need to see a vet with experience of treating guinea pigs.

Pet shops are there to make money and they make it from food and accessories.

A mineral stone will be left untouched with a good balanced diet of unlimited hay (should make up to 80% of the daily food intake), ca. 50g/1 cup full of mixed veg per piggy per day (ideally containing one high vitamin C veg like a slice of pepper of any colour, a bit of broccoli (any part) or a sprig of fresh coriander/cilantro, parsley, dill, mint or basil; please rotate) and pellets (unlimited until the weekly growth rate is slowing down, then very gradually reduced to the half or handful that fully grown piggies need). Fresh water daily; do not additives - the piggies will drink less.

Hi my boy that i lost did end up just sitting in the corner on the morning he died, yes i was sold all boys. My other 2 have had a full health check now and I'm keeping a super close eye on them. Thank you
