Hi peeps I’m new to here and would like some advice, I can’t stop thinking how he died, so we notice Jerry’s breathing was quite short shifts on times so we took him to the local vets, she checked him over and weighed him and check his temperature 🤒, weight was a little low and him temperature was down to 33.7, heart rate was fine, after checking him she said she didn’t want to cause him any more stress and said we could take him home with some antibiotics and some stuff to put in a steamer to help with his breathing, just at the end of the consultation, she said I just want to she just wanted to check his back teeth, so she got a scope opened his mouth with a big struggle as he didn’t want to, next minute he’s panting heavy and goes limp and dies, the last couple of days I can’t stop thinking if she didn’t trie to look at his teeth he’d still be here with us, has anyone else been through this

So sorry for your loss. I am sure people more knowledgeable than me will reply, but this is what I think.
You did everything you could for your piggy. If they are ill, then the best thing to do is to take them to a vets which is what you did. Whilst having the vet try to look in his mouth might have been a bit stressful, he sounds like he was very sick and weak, and perhaps wouldn't have recovered if you'd managed to take him home.
Hope that helps a little.

Hi and welcome to the forum, sorry it's in such sad circumstances. It sounds like your vet was very thorough. It also sounds like your piggy was severely ill with possibly a URI. Unfortunately these can come on very suddenly and very severely and sometimes, no matter how quickly we get to a vet, it can already be too late to help them. We have a rainbow bridge section on the forum if you feel you would like to leave a tribute to Jerry at any time

Aw, so sorry you have lost your boy. I once had a friend experience this with her pet budgie, he went for nail clipping and just died suddenly on the vets bench. Sometimes we just don’t know why it happens, he probably was very poorly x

Sleep tight little Jerry x

Oh dear, I’m so sorry you lost your piggy so suddenly. I have no doubt that it was nothing the vet did that hastened his death. It sounds like he was very poorly and his heart just gave out. It’s such a shock when this happens, but nobody’s fault. Please try to remember the happy times you had with him and not how he suddenly passed.
