Yesterday I washed my piggy in insecticidal shampoo. After the the wash I put bleach in the sink like you would bleach a toilet. There was what looked like blood running of the sink. I think it was mites that had popped. I was shocked. The sink was clean before I used it to wash her. There would be no other cause.
Two weeks ago she had her last of three ivermectin topical medication drops. So I thought the mites should be under control.
So afterwards I treated all my piggies again and I need a plan. I have hutch spray, but wood may be an issue. Should I freeze all hay before using it? If I use topical treatment how often and when should I bath them. Is there another topical treatment to use. I am afraid of an ivermectin injection. She is very old. My other two gave absolutely no sign of mites but I guess they have them too.
These mites are a nightmare. I feel because my piggy is fragile generally she is vulnerable. I give her extra vit c to help her etc.
