My 2 1/2 year old boar has had several bouts of issues with his right eye only, just after his first birthday. He usually has only had one infection a year, but we've been to the vet 3 times since December 16 2017. It started with a corneal ulcer. We cleared that up and he started making a "hooting" noise while breathing on February 14 2018. He was put on antibiotics for suspected URI. His eye was a mess on February 22 so the vet prescribed an antibiotic eye drop. We're booked for an xray this coming Tuesday to assess possible tooth root elongation. I want a definitive answer and to get to the root of this problem so that if some kind of surgery is necessary it's being done while he's young. The vet diagnosed him previously with nasolacrimal narrowing. This means that the duct that allows tears to drain out of the eye is narrowed and gets full of bacteria, causing eye infections. He's been on antibiotics 3 times a day for nearly a month and he's still making this "hooting" noise while breathing. If anyone has any insight or suggestions or similar experiences or knowledge of elongated roots, I would appreciate your thoughts or advice. I've lost a lot of sleep and am beside myself with worry. I absolutely adore him and will do anything to help him. Thank you in advance.
