Thats Greeeeeeat News

All fingers, toes and paws are crossed here, hopefully this is just her first step in the right direction, and soon she'll be up and running xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>

4/4/12

sorry had internet issues at work yesterday mallethead
then i was running around getting ready for my son to return from hols today (had to de cobweb, dust, vac, LOL )

She is continuing to improve just ever so slightly. She has started to get a little demanding WHICH I LOVE!!! Even a little pigtatude is coming thru :(|) she's boss and let's Velvet know it........ at least now she's not snapping at Velvet (she was doing this i think cause of in pain, but Velvet was just trying to be loving SIGH)
I'm continuing getting up in the night, i give her probiotics and just watch her for 15mins or so..... we have a lot stronger bond now :)
It's lovely to pick her up and to her feel stronger x)

Weight this morning when i left was 1055g

am putting a couple of pigtures in stories to show her eafter ating CC :))

How's Onyx doing? x

9/4/12

her weight fluctuates i can't seem to get her over the 1055g mark

She is still on meds as i was starting to wean her off and she started to squeak again on good friday, i was gutted to see her in pain again.
Onyx does want to eat so that's great and i'm now also taking Velvet out during the day when i pop food in so that Onyx gets the main share (Velvet was gaining and that's not good for her!)

Still getting up during the night i give her probiotics and offer her whatever she'll eat, she's good and usually eats hay or some oats.

just want her to gain weight..... i was so hoping over easter that i'd be able to get her to gain at least 20g or so...... but nope :(

Thanks again for all the good wishes xoxoxoxoxoxo

It's great to hear that she is slowly but surely on the mend! Plus her desire to eat is great :)

Keep on nomming down Onyx, Mummy wants you to get big and strong again :))

What concerns me is that she's now been on meds for around a month and she's not gaining weight unless i give her extra food.
I'm going to ask the vets to do another faecal test on her......

If it's been that long, I would definitely consider it honey. The more you know, the better you can help her :) x

Thanks from reading Jo's account of Patrick and your account i had wondered....... my problem is.......... baytril is the only drug they use here mallethead

Got everything crossed here for you Onyx. Eat up like a good piggie.
Keep smiling Glynis xx>>>
Amanda x

Poor little baby. I wonder why she is not putting on weight. It is a real mystery. Give her kisses from me please. I really hope she picks up.

I've left her at home today with nurse Velvet so am hoping she'll eat up hay and pellets whilst i'm here. It's times like this that i wish i didn't work! Going to leave early!
She had a decent brekkie this morning and loved her food, she was 1055g when i left and was munching on some greeeen spaghetti drool

If it is Cystitis I read on another forum that someone was advised to buy the human medication that you can buy in sachets, make sure it is sodium citrate based, seperate a sachete into three portions dilute one of the portions into about 50 ml water and syringe in throughout the day this will disperse the crystals breaking them down so she can pass them, the same it would work in a human. I actually thought my pig had Cystitis and did this I added a little cranberry juice to the water also, she was peeing and pooping well after, it didnt harm her in any way and she actually liked the taste, she easily took 6 ml at a time. you will need to treat it over 3 days, using the portions you devided. the pack I bought was in a green and white box called Cystitis relief, sugar free with a Chemmart Pharmacy blue and yellow make tag in the corner, it contained 28x4 g sachets, you should be able to pick a box up in any pharmacy, it dosnt have to be that make but just make sure it is sodium citrate based.
I wish her well with her recovery.

THANKS FOR THAT XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

She doesn't have signs of the UTI at the moment, but last time i tried to take her off the baytril she was squeaking the next morning mallethead

She wanted her brekkie this morning and was happy to munch on a few veggies as well. She is eating lots of hay, but no pellets (will only if i feed them too her), so i now give her water with a few pellets soaked in it to get some more of the goodness from the oxbow pellets. She is getting cranberry juice also.
Velvet even knows now that when i put grass in that she has to wait and i give her some near her and put the big pile near Onyx x) poor Velvet tho i keep taking her out of their house so Onyx can have full choice of food in the morning.

1070g when i left this morning......

poor girl, lets hope the pain as passed, and she can get back to normal, I have suffered cystitis myself and I am sure most women probably have at some point in their lives, but it is damn painful, and know from experience that the sachets do work well and relief usually comes within half hour of drinking the stuff. Cranberry juice can also natrually clear it, but depending on the severity of the infection it may not be enough alone. But I really hope it has passed, fingers crossed for her.

13/4/12

well i have her meds down to 1.0ml now.......... so far no squeaking.
Am doing lots of fluids and will continue no matter what after she recovers! I have to thank Jo and Patrick and quite a few of our lovely members for their input on this :)

Tonight she was 1080g......i told her at 2am this morning that if she could get to a good weight again and have no squeaks i'd let her sleep thru the night........ she is so so sweet when you go down at 2am she's totally relaxed and is now so easy to pick up as she knows the drill :)

For anyone who thinks it's not worth it............THINK AGAIN....... a little extra time is worth it no matter what! If you can turn things around time and lots of TLC and meds will help.
