Oh I'm so sorry! That is so scary! I had a guinea pig years ago that had to have a c-section and I watched the operation so I know what you mean about the intestines. The Vet had to pull them out and place aside to get the baby out of the womb. I was shocked. I'm going to be praying for your piggie that there will be no infection from this. Let us know how she progresses... poor little thing. It sounds like the stitches came open after her surgery. Is this what happened?

Take care,
Lynn

Hi I just read your post about the babies opening the stitches. Now I see how that happened. Poor piggie! Please keep us updated.

OMG that's horrible. I hope she pulls through Claire. What did the vet say her chances were?

Scary and poor little guinea having to go through that. Funny the babies eating part of mum - I wouldn't have thought they would do that. You live and learn.

I hope she pulls through it!

Lucky has a benign ovarian cyst and occasionally passes fluid because of it. Last time, she passed the lining of her womb and ate it herself, eww!

euwwwww. That's pretty grim stuff but nature at work I guess.

That's awful Claire, I do hope she can recover from this. What a horrible shock.

I can't help with monetary donations at the moment unfortunately - I would if I didn't have to stock up on hay and pellets urgently here - but I might be able to pop something in the post soon, will PM you in a few days.

Big hugs Claire. xx

Oh dear that sounds awful for both you and piggies! I hope she pulls through this, miracles can sometimes happen fingers crossed for you. Kisses to the minipigs and let us know how she gets on? When will you know?

I do not believe that the babies chewed either the mother's sutures or her "insides".
I would be more inclined to believe that the sutures were inadequate from the start.
To blame the problems on the babies seems like a convenient excuse.

There is one other possibility, that the mother chewed the sutures. I could accept that even if not the one about the babies.

When my Connie was opened up, she chewed her sutures but only one of them. When the vet 're glued' her, she said that hopefully she won't chew more than the one as it would be very sore for the piggy to do so.

thank you all for you kind words but i am sad to say that jenny the guinea has died around 1 hour ago,she tried her hardest to fight but the battle was just to big for her,,she has left behind 4 little babies to remind us what a special guinea pig she was.8...8...8...8...8...:0:0:0 any help would be so greatly appreciated has the bill will still be out standing but if not then i understand....i just so wish the out come was so so very different
