Op or not? Vibes for Llewelyn, please!

Llewelyn has gone to the vets today for a GA on the grounds of a suspected bladder stone. If further x-rays do confirm the bladder stone, he'll be operated on immediately after.

As I have lost his predecessor, my beloved Minx, after two bladder stone operations and a battle royal with persistent cystitis, this is very hard on me.

My heart really is with you on this one and as you already know, I no exactly what you are going through :( If he does have a stone, it has been caught early so hopefully it won't be a big stone. I am sending you and Llewelyn lots of (((hugs))) and healing vibes.
Llewelyn has a fantastic piggy mummy and is in the best hands possible.

I was told to ring them up at 1pm, if I hadn't heard from the vets before. Form my previous experience, it all depends on their operating list and it could be well into the afternoon until they get round to Llewi.

At the moment, it's a waiting game...

I wish he were as brave as he looks, but he panics very easily and has always needed lots of reassurance! He just goes "dead".

You feel so rotten, leaving a bewildered, lonely pig to be mauled over, don't you? Even if it his for his best, and Kerrie, the "piggy-nutter" nurse has promised to keep an eye on him...

I know how you feel. I felt so guilty when I had to leave Connie at the vets :( xx

Good news - NO OPERATION!

They took more x-rays, but couldn't find evidence of a stone.

According to them, it's just severe cystitis - bad enough, but I'm so relieved, I've had a bit of cry at first!

We can go and collect Llewi in an hour. I'm looking forward to having him back!

I want to thank all of you for "holding" my hand during the weekend and the last few bad hours. It's helped me such a lot!
 
Great news! Let us know what treatment they give. I'd hope with a severe case they'd give pain relief as well as Septrin.
 
I've just come back with Llewi, who seems a bit shaken, but none the worse for wear. They didn't even have to give him a GA, as he was playing "dead guinea pig" for the x-rays! What an obliging trait after Minx, whose epic battles are still all too welll remembered!

Unfortunately, the vets haven't got septrin on the books, so he's been on baytril 0.4 since Friday, together with meloxicam and avipro. He has been feeling a bit rough on Saturday and Sunday, but was already perking up yesterday and has been tucking straight into a portion of grass as we speak.

As to the severe cystitis, I've seen worse with Minx; LLewi's not wet underneath and hasn't any blood in his urine. I went as soon as I was sure he was coming down with it - yellow discolouration on the hay and painful pee.

Thanks again for your Help! It's meaning a lot to me!
 
PS: Llewi is getting his cranberry juice with the meloxicam, as he hasn't taken to either...
 
So glad it went well and that you've got your piggy back.
He looks stunning, I love the contrast of colours against the greenery. Bertie approves, he's just come out for a drink and some pellets... :))
