Tommypack
New Born Pup
I have a 5yr boar that has been deemed untreatable. He had a lump on his neck that appeared suddenly after getting a bath when he was 3. They don’t often get baths but my little heard of piggies were given quite the sticky snack and their fur was starting to stick. It was extremely small and remained so for a year. When he was 4 i noticed it had this scab on it. He’s mostly black and dark brown so I didn’t notice it until I saw the red from the dried blood around it. It didn’t bother him, he continued business as usual and the vet said not to worry unless his behavior changes. He turned this recent August and the day before a trip I found him laying in a pile of pellets with blood all over his neck and later discovered a trail on liners. I cleaned it with a saline solution and reached out to a veterinary school because no vet in my area can see him for this, they all said it’s beyond their area of expertise. I leave him in the care of my family, but when I return home, it doubled in size. (October 10) The school said it’s a tumor but he can’t be operated on because he’s not healthy enough. I noticed recently as the lump gets bigger, he gets smaller, despite maintaining his regular diet no problem.
I’ve been cleaning it and trying to keep him comfortable. It is open & exposed with a gap between 2 masses that oozes pus every once and again and there’s an ungodly smell 24/7. He is still alive and well as of current. (November 9) It has gotten to the point it drags when he walks. Has anyone else had to deal with this before? His remaining siblings and mother are all fine. Should I be prepping a spot in the garden next his pop and brother or has anyone had piggies live on for a reasonable time like this.
