We have a 4+ year old sow who is having her overies removed today were currently all in the car driving down to Northampton to Simon (she deserves the best)
Weve done a lot of research into post op care & I'm sure simon will go through everything with us but if anyone has any tips on how to give her the best care post op it will be very much appreciated

If anyone knows of somewhere good to eat and sit whiles she's in and were worrying please

She's doing great thank you she sailed through the operation and although her scar is larger than normal due to the size of her cysts its soooo neat I can't believe it. We weighed her before and after the operation and she went from 1026g to 962g so the cysts were just over 40g no wonder she was having trouble before bless her she looks so skinny now. Peaches has her post op cheek up on Thursday at our vets so I'll post the results.

Soooo happy we joined this forum as without Simon peaches chances were only 10% survival at our local vets and Simon gave as a 95% survival rate it was a no brainer after talking to him to have it done and she is so happy we know we made the right choice.

We bumped into Debbie at the vets it was nice to see her again and were already looking forward to next years fund raising day.

Welcome to the spayed sow's club - I have 3 now (used to have 4 ) - and they do seem to recover remarkably well - it's very rare to hear of complications in spayed sows - especially when you have a super vet like Simon in Northampton or Rachael in Dursley who have done loads and really know what they are doing. My last sow that was spayed was well enough to go in with a new huspig after 2 weeks - even with all the humping and chasing that went on.
