Went to a specialist today, Archie will have his mammary cyst removed on monday.
The vet said to bring some veggies for him to eat once he has come round, and that the operation should go fine and he should be able to go home the same day.
Should I buy recovery food to give him or do vets normally give you it? And would he need to be on it for long? I read through the links but I am not sure if the recovery food is just for lack of appetite or for all post op care.
How long would I need to give it to him?
He is on Pro C. I shall be so glad when I can stop the metacam and antibiotics, he really hates being syringe fed.

Thanks for asking!
He had his op today, it went really well. He was eating almost the moment after he woke up :)
The vet said the lump came out very cleanly, and the wound has been done up very neatly. The lump was really big, they have sent it off to be tested, hopefully it wont come back as anything terrible.
Somehow archie has chipped his bottom tooth too, he spat out the chunk at the vets. She said it should be okay and should grow back ok but to keep an eye on it. God knows how he managed that, maybe the medication had weakened his teeth?
We go back wednesday for a check up. The vet is really good, such a nice place.
The sweet thing rumbled at me when we got home and kissed my cheek.
The drivers are insane on the dorchester road, god it was horrible driving, we are shattered.

Glad the op went well. I do love Archie and his antics and hope to hear of more of his mischief soon, sending him lots of good healing vibes.

Thank you <3 This forum is the nicest forum I have ever been on, and the info on here is so amazing, especially the vet finder, thats how I found the closest suitable vet for him. Its really great to have a support network and to be able to drone on about ones guinea pig to like minded folks :P

Went to the vet today, Archie has slight swelling around the operated area. He goes back next friday, if its bigger then he has to have another operation as it means a new lump is growing. Knowing my luck, it will be another op :(

I am sending positive healing energy. Positive brings positive so try to remain hopeful!
