Hi all, I am dropping my pig at the vets in the morning for an op on his abscess. I am now worrying about whether I should take his two companions with him. I need to drop him off at 8am in the morning so do not have a chance to call the vets to ask if this would be ok. Would you take them or is it best just to take him?

I would take them, they can be a great support during recovery, I didn't ask my vet before but turned up with a companion for fluffys hernia repair and they were fine with it 😁 fluffys recovery was a lot better with a friend than her spay recovery which she faced alone due to a hormonally broken bond, good luck for the op 😊 xx

I'd take them, but be prepared just in case they won't let them stay. I made sure to take lots of food supplies for the companion when one of mine was in for a procedure. Hope it goes well!

I would take them and bring them back home with me again in case the vet clinic is not okay with their presence. ;)

Thankfully my operating vet is fine with a companion during recovery as the presence does help.

All the best for the op!

Are you sure there are no vet nurses there through the night?

The mental side to healing gets way overlooked, I took my sows boar companion to the vets when she had her op, and they told me how much she came alive when she went back and see he was eating, she started too. 👍 Glad everything went well
