As you all probably know we have two 9 week old sows.

The one, Lottie, has always done a slight rubbing noise with her teeth when eating, we noticed this manly on wet foods. Like cucumber.
But tonight we gave her a little chunk on carrot and she didn't want it, she goes to bite it then gives up. Her sister Bonnie ate hers. But then we tried Lottie on some apple which she munched up. Now were wondering is she eating enough dry food?As it's hard to bite. But shouldn't her teeth be strong at 9 weeks?

We've also noticed she drinks quite a lot, but i think thats her been a baby and taking little licks.

We've booked a vets appointment.
But was wondering what are all your opinions on this?
:)

I don't know the answer to your question but mine are roughly the same age and go for the softer food too like cucumber and peppers, they tend to ignore carrot.

Do they eat much hay?

xx

Hi, yes they do eat quite a bit of hay, but Bonnie looks like she has put more weight on than Lottie, i'm going to weigh them tomorrow:)

Its good your going to get her checked out. Better safe than sorry

I'm not sure what you mean about rubbing noise? Is she maybe grinding her teeth? Mine grind their teeth occasionally when they eat.

As for the drinking, some guinea pigs drink more than others. One of my mine drinks atleast 2 bottles a day and we had him checked out and he was fine.

As for the veg i wouldnt worry if she isnt eating carrot. She might not like it or is just unsure about it.

As for the wieght, As long as she isnt underwieght i wouldnt worry about it too much. Its a good idea to weigh her say every monday for a few weeks and you will be able to keep track.

Lets us know how she gets on at the vets x>>

Just for comparison , when my Rex piggy was around 9 weeks old she was about 450g. Similar breeds so should give you a rough idea :))
