Junior Guinea Pig
Hi!
I am taking my 6 year old boar to the vet tomorrow. I just noticed yesterday some slight indications that he may be uncomfortable while chewing hay and the day before, I noticed he dropped his bell pepper while eating. He has eaten his bell peppers fine since but I immediately want to make sure to get his molars checked for any spurs or any other issues cause I’m seeing some minor signs. Anyways, I’m going to see what the vet says, but I would like them to give him a thorough oral exam and potential dental x rays so I know that means light sedation.
Does anyone have any experience with their guinea pigs being sedated for X-rays or oral exams?
What are some important after care tips?
What should I expect?
What are some things I should look out for?
Any advice or input would be so greatly appreciated. Thank you!
P.s I am also gonna have them potentially do a skin test because he seems extra itchy. I noticed him doing this motion of moving his head down while eating hay and sometimes while not eating at all. I can’t tell if it’s him showing dental discomfort or intense itchiness/agitation from potential mites or something.
