Orangey coloured wee

Hi everyone,
I noticed today after I cleaned my 3 girls cage out that there was some patches of bright orangey coloured wee dotted around the cage which looked very alarming. I didn’t think to take a picture wt the time when I first saw it and now it isn’t as bright.
I took each pig out individually to see which pig it was - but each one had normal coloured wee and wasn’t complaining or in pain when they went.
I put some puppy pads down in their cage to see if it was the sawdust I was using, but the wee still has a tinge of pink.... does anyone know why this is happening or what it could be...

Guinea pig urine can oxidise when it reacts with the air causing it to turn a rusty brown / orange colour. I think that’s what you’re seeing here. But if you are at all concerned, please see a vet

I agree with ClaireW. How old are they? If you’ve had them for a long time and this is a new thing I’d get them checked over.

Okay thank you - I’ve had them coming up to 2 years now and I’ve seen it before on and off, but it’s never been as bright a orange as it was yesterday that’s why I got a bit worried

They do like to keep us on our toes don’t they? My two boys sawdust goes a bright orange sometimes. Keep an eye on them but off to the vets if you’re still worried.

All the time I haven’t had guineapigs before so everything is so new - they are definitely high maintenance piggies
