Hi everyone
Just a little update on how our little Oreo and Red are doing. After putting them together on neutral ground on Sunday they seemed to get on quite well with Red being very calm and a few spots of dominant behaviour.
Sunday night we put them in the outdoor hutch and I was totally paranoid that Oreo could escape through the bars... I don't think so as I can't get two fingers between them and the gaps are just over one finger big. Still, it didn't stop me thinking about it. I kept checking on them every hour until about 1am on Sunday when I finally decided that sleep was needed.
We went to work, came home and got the boys out in the indoor runaround. We are using the indoor hutch base for this as its a bigger area and naturally high sides so pretty good for a contained area. I can't believe how much Oreo eats! He is tiny yet he almost eats as much as Red. Put them back outside last night and kept checking until about 11.30pm.
Nic fed them this morning and I said hello and goodbye before disappearing to work. Come home and put them both on the grass. Oreo's first time on the grass here.
They seem to be getting on really well. Oreo snuggles next to Red and will force himself between Red and the side of wherever they are. I suspect this is for warmth and also feeling secure.
Oreo totally acts like a little kid, with lots of quick movement and a surprising amount of noise. I can just imagine Oreo going to Red asking him to throw the ball like a puppy. After a while Red knocks him away as if to say go away and leave me alone, its 'quiet time'.
When Oreo goes to the other side of the indoor hutch base, its a fair way away from Red and he squeaks louder. I think this is just so Red knows where he is, but I walked over last night and Oreo started squeaking the 'I'm scared and in trouble' squeak. Red was over like a flash so I think he is definately looking after him.
I'll sort a few more piccies out of them before the weekend and post up. Oreo is sooooo cute, and I'm a big sop for piggies now. Its Nic's fault as it was her that wanted Red and Morgan to begin with. Now I'm totally a piggy fan.
