Is this normal?

He was originally from a pet shop so I assume it's just due to in-breeding ?!
 
Sometimes it just happens. Genetics is a complicated business.

Is it hanging off or fully formed? It's called polydactyly and my Terry has this, it's half hanging on but doesn't bother him so it's fine.. he's from a pet shop too and I'm guessing it is inbreeding !
 
Yeah it's hanging off! Firstly I thought that he's caught it on something and then I thought...hang on?! Hehe.

I am a little concerned he will catch it on something so will keep my eye on it!

If it seems it's hanging on 'like a thread' it might be worth taking him to the vet where they can snip it off. I think they can do this without anaesthetic? I'm not completely sure though.

If it's not properly attached, then it needs to be removed by a vet. Better removed by a professional, than piggy catching it in something and pulling it off himself!
 
My Sadie has an extra toe that just hangs off, she will be getting it removed within the next couple of weeks as its too risky incase she catches it :)
 
I've seen (human) babies with this-sometimes it just happens, just a minor flaw-no-one is perfect! Doesn't mean that she is definitely inbred. It's normally recommended to get it removed if it's hanging by a thread as if it catches it will cause more problems.

Hate to have him catch it as he is everso bouncy and excitable!
 
One of mine had this until she was about 18 months old then one day I noticed it had gone?! There was no mark where it had been and no blood or anything so can only imagine it fell off.
