Patchy & Coco have decided that they no longer like capsicum of any colour and are also slowly turning off cucumber and won't touch cabbage or carrot (unless it's carrot peel) at all now. I don't know why after 3 1/2 years of loving all 4 they are turning their noses up at them all of a sudden but it's doing my head in, they have been to the vet recently for a check up and their teeth are fine and they are not losing weight so I suspect they are bored with their diet. What other food can they eat with vitamin c in it that isn't capsicum or orange as I never feed them orange?. At the moment they are eating salad mix (with lettuce, chard and spinach), celery, zucchini, eggplant, baby corn, herbs (coriander, parsley and dill), mixed lettuce when not eating the salad mix (not iceburg), beans, alfalfa and little pea shoots so they are still eating a variety. I am wondering if they can eat snow peas and mung beans and ocra as they seem to be popular in the shops at the moment. Why do they need to go off the same food at the same time :hb:

Lovely to see you again, I've missed you on the forum.
Spinach, parsley and corriander are good for vit c. I wouldn't get too hung up on it though, they get vit c from hay and grass. Spinich and parsley are high in calcium though and should be fed sparringly. I find mine go off veg at certain times of the year, especially capsicum. I suspect it tastes different under certain growing conditions. Mine are't very impressed with capsicum or cucumber at the moment. Lots of ideas in the above link.

Fussy little so and so's aren't they! It's a shame that parsley and spinach are high in calcium as I gave them both as a Christmas treat and they loved it but they won't get it for a while now except the little bit of spinach in this salad mix they are eating at the moment. Only time will tell with how bad these fires are over here at the moment are going to affect the availability and price of some fruit and veggies.

The fires look devastating in the newspapers, I hope they can get them all out soon.
I grow parsley, corriander, and basil on the kitchen window ledge. They get a small sprig of parsley each 2 or 3 times a week, I hand feed it to make sure no one gets more than his fair share.

Yeah they have been catastrophic to both people and wildlife, very sad.
I always hand feed herbs too because Patchy is a little pig and Coco is the slowest eater on the planet and she's bound to miss out, I actually thought she had some issues with her teeth but her teeth are in better shape than Patchy's so I guess she just likes to savour her food. I can't grow herbs to save my life, I seen to have no problem killing them though lol.

I think their pellets are fortified with vitamin c as well. They are on Oxbow pellets.
