My poor rex boar, Stripe, has a sore leg.

He and his best friend Parkin were out for a run round the sitting room today, and for some reason, Parkin panicked, and seems to have bitten Stripe on the leg. Although it doesn't look too bad, he can't put it down and is giving an impression of peg-leg sue hopping round.

Really not sure what caused this, as the boys have been together for 3 and a half years now. It wasn't a fight, Parkin just got into a narrow space behind the door, and when Stripe followed him in, seems to have had a panic attack. Poor Stripe. A trip to the vet looms, I think.

Poor stripe, i hope the vet visit goes ok, if you are worried at all then you could give it a bathe in some salt water tonight. Bites can easily get infected. Hense the abscesses piggies can sometimes get.

Hope all goes well.

Oh no, poor Stripe! I hope his little leggle gets much better soon, please keep us updated as to how he is doing!
Healing wheeks from Treacle, Bernadette, Casper and Junior, and hugs for you :) xx

Poor Stripe! Back to the vets today, as his leg didn't look great - swollen and very tender - he can't even hop on it. Massive injection of ab plus high dose of septrin for next four days. The wound itself looks fine, but obviously the infection has set in as I feared. He's a bit more comfy now but still looking sorry for himself. Parkin just looks guilty - a lot of cuddling and licking going on!

At least he's still eating and pooping. He likes the new excell cubes although that could be because they're his favourite blackcurrent and oregano flavour. Nevermind, whatever keeps him eating atm I think...

Now it's a query broken bone :((

Poor Stripe. No real improvement in his leg - he still can't put any weight on it. Hopping around on three legs but getting quite quick now. Vet trip (again!) today, and he's now on baytril - dose is 0.25ml 2 x per day, four day course, plus 0.5ml metacam 1 x day - long 30 day course intended to relieve him until his possible broken leg calcifies over.

Does anyone have any advice on what more I can do? I have got some probiotic to keep his gut happy with the baytril, and he's still eating and pooping well. He doesn't seem to be in pain, not squeaking when picked up or when I (or the vet) feel his leg or shoulder, but not weight bearing at all.
