My poor Mischief..Thursday night she came in and there was a tiny piece of hay or hay seed in her nostril. I went to brush it away but she got fidgety so left it and 5 mins later it had gone. Fine I thought, she’s removed it herself.

Next morning she was a little ‘out of sorts’ she can be like that sometimes being an older lady so I figured it was that. Fed her, she shouted for her food so I left her to eat, ravenous as usual.

Came back 30 mins later to check her and there was the tiny piece of hay again. So I picked her up, got some tweezers and hubby’s stronger glasses...at my age my eyes are not what they were, and pulled it.

Well I was expecting a tiny hay seed or short piece of hay, what came out was over an inch long piece of hay covered in mucous. Must have been so uncomfortable! She sat so still to let me grab it.

She is fine, no blood and this morning is back to 100%. Fortunately she is on Metacam daily for other issues so I suspect this probably has helped with pain and inflammation.

Poor girl...how on earth did she manage to sniff that length of hay up her nose ! 🤪

Ouch indeed! Glad you got it out!

It is amazing what large hay pieces piggies can get under their eyelids and up their noses. :yikes:
