I posted over the weekend about our cat, Gis, and our decision to let him go. The vet agreed that it was his time, and Gis has now gone. We know it was the kindest thing for him and his passing was only a matter of time given his age and medical conditions, but its still hard and we're both heartbroken.

Gis, I hope you know that you were very much loved and that you understand. You are at peace now. You were a loyal friend and companion, a big brother to the pigs, a source of comfort when it was needed and you will forever hold a place in our hearts. You will never be forgotten.

Knowing you, you've found a nice warm sunny spot over the bridge and are probably lying flat on your back sunbathing as always. I hope you are happier and more comfortable now.

Remember, we will always love you x

I'm so so sorry to hear that Gis has now gone. I know how hard it is to let such a beloved pet go...
R.I.P Gis, you shall never be forgotten.

Its heart breaking to hear your poor friend has gone! I lost my Tabitha she was 19 years old so I know exactly how you feel! It hurts so much right now and will feel empty for a long while around the house! But in time the hurt gets less and you will remember all the lovely things about Gis! You need to feel so proud of yourself for giving him such a loving and caring home, some poor creatures never get or feel the love you have given!
Chin up hunny and hope you feel better soon xxxxx

I love that last photo, they are all lovely but the last one is beautiful.

Sorry that you had to let Gis go, that really is the biggest act of love anyone can do for their friend.

RIP Gis x>>

So sorry you have lost your beautiful boy. It is so hard to let them go and helping them accross the bridge is such a heartbreaking decision but one that is always made out of pure love for them *massive hugs*

RIP Gis
x x

Aw, I remember reading your thread about Gis - the last pic truly captured his beauty :)
Gis is with the little ones who will guide him to the best hotspots at The Bridge where he can lounge in eternal peace xoxo
So sad for you and send hugs x>>

You are so brave to have been able to make that decision. What a lovely tribute. I can see how loved he was and always will be.

Sending you hugs at this difficult time.
Gis looks like he was a very contented, well cared for cat.
I'm sure he will have left some very special memories to treasure.
RIP Gis xx

What a handsome cat he was. It is so hard to make that decision, but you know when the time is right.

My thoughts are with you.

RIP dear Gis

Sorry to hear about Gis.

He's almost the same age as me!

22 is a hugely fantastic age. It certainly sounds like you made the right decision. After 22 years of amazing life with you guys (he looks so happy in all the photos, a gorgeous boy!), for him not to suffer at the end of his life is the biggest gift you can have given him.

Hugs to you and your family xx

I am sorry that Gis has now gone; it is always such a heartbreaking decision, but one we thankfully can make for our pets to spare them further suffering. Gis has been a huge part of your life for such a long time!

I am sure that he will always have a special corner in your heart!

*hugs*

Goodnight little one, rest in peace x

so sorry to hear of your loss, he was a lovely cat, i love the last photo he looks like hes smiling
RIP Gis

i read this in the mot garage this morning on my phone. i had tears streaming down my face - the guys in there must of thought i was mad. i know from my own experience how hard it is to make that final decision but take comfort in the fact that it was the best thing you could do for him. if only we were allowed to help our human loved ones in the same way in their hour of need. you must of been a fantastic mom to him for him to reach such a massive age. i have a stone in my garden for my cats that i have lost that says ' cats leave pawprints on your heart' and i truly believe that to be true. take care and keep your memories with you. they will get you through the hard times ahead

So sorry, it really is the hardest thing to do, to say goodbye like this.
Remember you did a brave thing, by giving him eternal peace, that's a kind thing to do.
Big hugs x

What a fantastic life he lived, you're right - he will have found the perfect spot at the bridge to rest in peace now, hugs x
