and unfortunately we had to have him put down as he broke his back. We are absolutely devastated as he was the loveliest little pig you could ever imagine! So we now have one pig by himself and we want him to be as happy as possible! Needless to say, the rules with gp handling have completely changed in our household and we now need to move forward and concentrate on the future of our remaining pig.

So my question to people who have a greater knowledge of gps than us....

Do we get another male to keep him company or do we get him neutered and get him a female or 2? He is really scared atm and we want him to be as happy as possible! We have a large indoor cage so there is plenty of room for another 2 pigs if required.

Any advice greatly appreciated

What a shock for you. So sorry for your loss. Boar bonding is. It offered by all rescues, but it is worth finding a rescue that offers the service to make sure that your piggy finds a companion who he is happy to share his home with.
Our rescue locator is situated at the top of the page. Here is the link Guinea Pig Rescue Centre Locator

Guinea pigs prefer to have company so if I were you I would get another male Piggie for him to be friends with hut make sure they meet where neither of them have been just in case the first decides his hutch belongs to him because then a war could break out.
And you don't have to do this with girl guineapigs and I'm solo sorry for your loss

So sorry you lost your guinea.... we had a guinea jump out of carry case when vet opened it. He impacted floor head first and knocked his teeth out. It was one where the top came off rather than open a door.... needless to say we never used that travel case again.

I hope you find a companion for your little fella soon.
