You came to us as a 50/50 chance of survival. The vet had said you were malnourished, weak and even suggested you were put to sleep unless there was an immediate 24 hour monitoring system with 2 hour interventions of critical care. So I took you home for the first time. Every 90 minutes for 24 hours I syringe fed you critical care and naturally you and I built a bond (much to the jealousy of your mummy!). From that day you were so food orientated meaning you fit in perfectly with the family. You would meet me at the side of your pen every time I got home from work and would have a chin scratch and a cuddle with mummy before being fed your favourite treat: blueberries.

On the 16th October, you didn't touch any of your veg and even refused a blueberry. We took you straight to the vets where initially it was thought to be gut stasis. After no improvement and an xray you were diagnosed with a twisted cecum with a less than 50% chance of surviving the operation and a less than 10% chance of making a recovery even if the operation was successful. We made the heart breaking decision to remove you from your pain.

Mummy and I came to the vets and had one last cuddle and our hearts broke into a million pieces as you were put to sleep. Our lives will forever have a Milky Jo shaped hole in them. We miss your cuddles, your love and your ability to lift our day with your unique personality.

Your spirit lives on in your sister Toffee Sue who has really become food focused and eats the blueberries you left behind.

Rest in piece our sweet girl

I’m so sorry you had to make that decision. I know it is part of having responsibility for our pets but it’s not an easy decision to make. Milky Jo was gorgeous and was a fantastic part of your family and always will be. You gave her a home - Take care and remember those lovely times together
