Hi

I went to fill up the hay racks and discovered that the bag had run empty... I was sure I had another one in the drawer, but I didn't. I don't know how that could happen, I always have several bags of everything. So now my pigs will be without hay for another 10 hours, since it is midnight right now and I have to wait until the stores open. 10 hours sounds like way too long. They do have some chewing toys that are made out of pressed hay that they are chewing away on currently, but obviously that isn't enough, they need fresh hay. I also have some leftover recovery food mixture from when they have had surgeries, so I have also given some of that to them right now so that they get their fiber, but I am really worried. What should I do?

Try not to panic! have you any fresh grass you could pick ?if you have critical care you could give your piggies a feed of approx 20mls each, try to get some hay in the morning.is there anyone you know that could give you some hay ?I'm sure your piggies will be fine as long as you get some hay in the morning.:)

So they ate their recovery food solution for the night (it is in my language, I have no idea how to say it in English any other way, but it is like a powder that you mix with warm water and it becomes like a greenish paste and it is used for weight gain and stomach problems). I got them some hay in the morning and they seem to be happily munching away. I see that they have had bowel movement during the night so that is good, I think nothing major happened from the 10 hour gap.

You would be surprised and it does happen when you realise you've used the last bag of something...I've done it a few times or forgotten to drop in and get sometimes. But you did a good thing and took taken. Well done.
