For the last 7 days I noticed Kevin wasnt quite his normal self, he has not been eating much hay or pellets, although he has been very enthusiastic about his fresh food, so he has eaten something. I also noticed and posted about it in chat that he was constantly eating his soft poops and those of his cage mates....it was getting to the point i thought i would have to seperate the because he was bothering Norman so much, i could hear one was distressed and thought it was Norm because Kev was constantly near his back end. I weighed him and he was the same weight as the previous week, I have been weighing them weekly since i got them and they have put on between 30-50g a week. He seems brighter now and since their feed to christmas day evening he was eaten pellets hay and his fresh food, he spent most of the day yesterday running around and popcorning, so he seems a lot better.

There was nothing obvious he didnt appear in pain..he was pooping and weeing ok, he just wasnt eating hay or pellets only the fresh bits that I fed uim by hand.
They are both approximately 16 weeks old.

Can piggies like us have times when they just feeling unwell but nothing specific wrong?
Also.....
How much should 16 week old piggies weigh?

I'm not the best person to advise as I'm not a vet, nor am I as knowledgeable as most on here so I'm sure someone will be along soon to have better advise.

Mine have phases with their hay and pellets - they cannot get enough of the fresh veg, but sometimes they turn their noses up at the hay. Like humans, piggies can have particular tastes and may go off a certain brand of hay - especially if it's been open for a while. What we did was try most of the hay we could find, and the one they liked the most we give them more regularly but we switch it up a bit with other brands that they like too so they don't get too bored.

As for pellets - I've noticed that ours will more or less refuse to eat their pellets if there are any other objects in the bowl (poo, bedding, hay) - this is quite costly for us as they are always depositing things in the bowl and sometimes we just have to turf the entire bowl out and put a fresh ones in. We are actually going to put their pellet bowl on a bed of fleece so it's less likely for them to put things in there! Again, you may have to do trial and error with pellets - when ours got to 16 weeks they went off their old pellets and we tried something else - We are on Burgess Excel pellets for GP's with added mint which they really like.

As for the weight - ours are roughly about 20 weeks old and vary in weight. Banana, who is by far the biggest, is nearly 1000g. Gilles is a smaller 800g and Snoopy smaller still, although we suspect he is younger than the others - 747g. Scruffy we haven't been able to weigh because he won't sit still yet, but we're getting there.

I hope that helps a little x
