Hi, I was wondering what you do with "boar MOT" during cold weather. This cold weather seems never ending and my boys need the bath, bum, glands, nails done and their shed deep cleaned.
Next week it meant to climb to "tropic" 12°C midday. I was planning to bath them in morning, leave them indoors to dry , slowly lower temperature and later in the day put back in the shed? It's heated and I use snuggle safe pads, too. I will be able to maintain steady temperature. Without heating the temperature would be +15°C in the shed so once I add heating I can push it up even more...

Would that be ok? :hmm:

Mine aren’t outdoors but my elderly sow with the runs gets bum baths and then I do a hair dry on the lowest heat. I wouldn’t want her soggy in winter - even indoors. Their top coat tends to dry but the under coat takes longer so you risk them still being damp if not dried.

Is there a reason why they need a bath? My pigs very rarely have baths.

I rarely bath mine. Betsy who is my long haired piggy gets the very occasional bum bath but only when absolutely necessary.

Both needs their bums cleaned. One has longer hair on his back end (looks like tutu!) So it doesn't help.
Well, when you think how long we had bad weather for this is "rare" occasion.

Betsy visits 'the ironing board salon' every six weeks or so and she gets a bum trim and her side skirts cut. I hate doing this but it stops her getting matted and helps to keep her clean. In the summer when it's hot I get the pet clippers out and she gets a grade 4 all over so she is not wandering around in the sun with the equivalent of a ski suit on the beach! It grows back by autumn. She looks very odd at first with the equivalent of a short back and sides but she feels better for it and I soon get used to it.

That sounds brilliant! Do you have any before and after photos of her?

I do but they are on my laptop and I am away until Friday so am making do with my phone and tablet. It's so much easier with my laptop!
