I thought I would ask those who have outdoor piggies have they been moved in yet because of all our cold weather feeling more like Autumn!?

I have indoor piggies and i have noticed it rather chilly at nighttime even for them (yes they are pampered piggies!) so i have started giving them more hay and closing the curtains earlier to retain the heat in the room.

Not yet them but they will be. I wait for temp to drop below 10 degrees. I was going to try and leave them out in the shed and just have buns in but Peter wont hear of it. Should get another month out of the shed here. :)

aww peter loves them doesnt he!

thats good to hear. I fuss over mine and the temperature too much i think! lol

He does, he's a big softie...lol

Its the extreme change in temps that do them in like hot to cold, cold to hot and also drafts. Plus if we bring them in we can see change in them if they are ill and have more cuddles so its all good! :D

awww thats so sweet! Do you like it when they come in Lou?

I couldnt imagine having mine outside anymore. I had ones before outside, but i just love them inside now

saying that, have 13 piggies and is it 2 rabbits?! inside is certainly a BIG family to look after! lol

I love them being in. In the summer its fine having them in the shed as I'm always out there talking to them...lol But winter I'd never see them that would be horrible!

13 is a lot of wheeks to put up with! It's gonna be fun! LMAO :D

I've been away recently, so the piggies were downstairs in the garage because it's easier for my mum! But I got back a couple of days ago, so they were brought back inside and re-inserted back in my room, which is just as well as the weather is turning horrible here! Cold and wet, yeuch!

But this morning I was woken up at 7:30am, as the little monsters had adjusted to my mum feeding them that early before she went to work (I'm a student, and much lazier so they normally get fed at 9am when I get up) so I've been getting woken with impatient "i've not been fed in foreeeever!" wheeks!

It is lovely though, I love having them so close to me.

aww its so nice to see that people love having their piggies in, esp in the winter time!

Louise, you are going to have lots of Wheeks! Susie, how many little rascals do you have?

It's lovely hearing them, I will never tire of it. I just wish my rabbits 'said' more Tika does grunt at me though! She's a little witch at times haha! :)

I'd miss my four if I had them outside. They live in our lounge and we spend most of our time with them!x):<>:(|)xoxox>>:)p^):rose

hi

mine live in the shed all year round as no room in the house but i will be putting my winter features in soon such as the cardboard and tauparlin. they are starting to get extra hay.

when they are in the house for baths and things they dont seem to like it they are definately happier outside and my two indoor piggies love being indoors.

it's funny how they have different preferences! i couldn't imagine my two younger pigs outside, they'd be like "ohhh,c'mon mommy,i DON'T think soooo!" but my two eldest would possibly try to escape to eat any plants they could find! Greedy pigs! x

i think i have spoilt mine too much and would get cold otuside! they love going in the run in summer when its nice a hot, but when i cut their fur outside and take them nito our freezzzing cold kitchen, they sulk!

aww,i spoil mine too. i think we all do

My boys came in a few days ago. It wasn't really that cold outside, but it rains all the time and no-one wanted to go out and take care of them, so it seemed kinder to bring them in.

Susieq, you're a good student if you get up at 9 am!
When you all bring your guinea pigs in, do you move them out of hutches and maybe into Nero type cages? I have thought about this but would need two huge ones and can't really afford to buy them. Also there would be a lot less room than my double decker hutches. Has anyone actually brought hutches into the house (we have a spare room). If so any problems? The carpet in the spare room is brand new so would cover and be careful with hay, and not use wood shavings. ? Any ideas x
