Outside Bugs

Can letting my guinea pigs run around in a pen outside make the subject to contracting mites, lice, etc? I took them out twice so far and both ended rather badly. The first time they came back in my coronet, Cookie, came back with an ant hiding in her fur. The second time we found lice in their fur the next day.

They love going outside and eating grass, but I'm not sure if it is the best for them?

Mites are not contracted from outside.

What lice did you find?

I'm not sure what type they were but we got the lice quickly before it got bad.
