I'm just wondering where people keep their pigs?
I keep mine outside in a hutch, and always have done, but reading some of the posts makes me think people keep theirs inside?
I would bring mine into the garage if the weather is bad e.g. over the winter or in high wind.
Just interested in opinions.....

Mine are indoors :)
I had them outdoors for the first two years of guinea ownership but then brought them in and can't imagine the house without them now.

Welcome to the forum, I keep my Guinea pig's inside they are in all year round except on really Sunny days when they go out on the grass.

I love having them inside it's wonderful just walking into a room and seeing there little faces I especially like not getting cold when I want to see them. I do also think they are much tame as they get to be the center of attention but of course that's just my opinion.

Mine will be kept outside, but i have got a cage for when it's really cold outside. I'm going to be getting them a hooded cat bed and fill it with shredded paper as well as getting them one of those heated cushions.
If it gets really bad i'll probably put insulation in the hutch :-)

Mine are inside permanently now. I moved the hutches outside in the summer months last year but then one died of a URI. Not sure if there was a link.
I know mine DEFINATELY get more attention now they are inside.

Mine have been inside since November. I was very tempted when the weather warmed up recently to let them stay outside, but i was advised on here to bring them back in at night as it was too chilly and we were still having ground frosts. The weather then went back to the norm cold and miserable so untill early may they are inside at night and only out on the grass when it is dry warm and sunny

Mine are inside from about October-May time, then outside the rest. It's lovely to have them indoors, and I would all year round if my mum wasn't so insistent that "they belong outdoors"! I'm hoping that this year will be the last outdoors, because they'll be 5 so after that I want them indoors where I can keep an eye on them!

Mine are outdoors indoors! I was given a nearly new 10x8 shed and paving to put it on. I've installed power so it has heating and lights. It is also insulated. So i've got the best of both worlds. When the weather is nice, they're out on the grass, when it's horrible, the door is closed with the light and heater on - spoilt piggies! :))

Mine are inside in the winter and in the Spring they go outside, well out into the shed, and they live in a hutch and C&C in the shed. If its still a bit cool at night they have a heat pad each.

Mine live indoors.
They have an outdoor run which they will go in during the day in the summer, when I'm home to keep an eye on them, but then back indoors at night to sleep.
I wouldn't dare to keep them outdoors because we live on the edge of a small village and are surrounded by fields with lots of wildlife. We know that badgers and foxes live in the wood near us so I'd be too worried about the girls safety to leave them outdoors. :...

We have 18 piggies and they live in our lounge with us :) Love the interaction with them and some of the skittish and frightened piggies have become tame due to us talking to them and giving them lots of attention.
Just peace of mind knowing they are safe and secure is all that matters to me.

INSIDE INSIDE INSIDE !

haha, sounds crazy but i love having piggies indoors, they become alot more part of the family, i've spoken to people who keep them outside and they have said how my piggies where alot quicker at getting tame etc. from being inside, it's much more interesting for the piggies seeing all the people walking around the house and things, now my piggies are inside i don't think i'd ever want them to go out, there more interesting than the tv most of the time !

All my pigs (up to 65) live inside throughout the winter. They move out to a block built, insulated, double glazed shed for the summer months and go out in the runs when the weather is nice.

One of my homing criteria is that the adopted pigs live inside through the winter or in an insulated shed with additional heating. This winter, so many pigs have died after a mild patch ends with freezing temps, even those living inside wooden sheds. I would be especially careful with babies/young pigs.

Thanks for all your replies! The consensus seems to be indoors....mine seem to be very happy outdoors and i certainly make sure i bring them into the garage if the weather is bad/windy/cold. I like the fact they get fresh air during the day and can see the world passing by! :)
