I've had my boys a month and hate the thought of them being outside so been looking for an indoor cage and found one id like to get. Dimensions Lx 39" Wx 22" Hx 17". I would like to know what's best used inside the cage to have minimal smell? Currently I have woodshavings outside but it's so messy I want to change that once they come in. Any other advice for indoor piggies much appreciated, thanks x

The cage dimentions seems rather small, how many pigs do you have? Boar couples/groups need alot of space if not it can cause problems, i would be looking to get a bigger cage.

With regards to the smell, fleece or vet bed is probably the least smelly bedding you can get.

That's too small for 2 pigs. The minimum recommended size for 2 is 4ft x 2ft.

Have you had a look on zooplus?
This is a popular basic cage at a very good price

There are a couple of other cages of similar size.

If you have more than 2 pigs, you will need to look for a bigger cage. Ferplast make a 140cm cage, and there are a couple of other makes.
:)

If you don't fancy fleece, then aubiose or megazorb are other options. I find they work best with a layer of hay on top. I change the hay every couple of days and the under bedding once a week.

I have two young boars (brothers) but ideally want the cage to last their life time. I will certainly look for something , that one one zooplus looks ideal, thanks for that :)

Ive only had my piggies a week and they are inside, i bought some vey bed- it is the best thing i have ever bought, its easy to remove the poos, hides the smell of wee and i have just washed it-it fit into a pillow case and looks good as nee-defo recommened x

C&c cages are great too and offer more space than shop bought cages.

Have a look at out forum housing stickies for inspiration :)

The cage on the Zooplus link is great, we have Nigel in it, and there is room to put a hayloft and ramp in too. C & C cages are really good aswell, we have built ours to fit the space we have.

I may sound really dumb here bug what is vet bed and where can I buy it? Sorry I'm relatively new to all this lol! C&c cages look great but I'm not creative in the slightest lol!

* can buy vet bed on ebay, its soft on top and underneath it holds the wee- it doesnt smell looks really nice and soft- best thing ever :)

What would I need to put under vetbed? Plus I'm guessing I'd need two lots for when the other is in the wash?

Ive put newspaper undernearth, yeh i got two pieces on ebay came to 24pound, then you can cut it down to size of cage-it cuts really easily, i cleaned them out for the first time yesturday and you just remove the poo and hay, then folded it up into a pillow case then poped into the washing machine, its fab, and comes lots of colours-i got black for mycage, quite a lot to buy in the beginning, but i have sooooo saved in the long run :(|):(|)

Is it easy to dry as I don't have a rumble dryer? Not that it matters I guess if you have two lots! How often are h meant to wash it? Sorry for so many questions lol

Hay thats ok :) it is advised not to tumble dry- it said so on ebay, i hung mine over my door checked on it this morning and its dry, also i think it depends on when you want to clean it out i left mine 6 days last time but I'm going to do it more often, my two poo and wee for england lol. It really is up to you as to when you feel it needs a clean, i think its goin to varey from wheek to wheek, if you need to ask anything else fire away :)) this forum is fab to ask anything x
